Ken Smaltz is one of the preeminent experts in the collection and integration of rare and precious metal coins as a responsible investment.  As CEO and president of K. Smaltz Inc., he buys and sells rare coins and precious metals for private individuals and collectors around the world. His expertise and contacts throughout the industry makes him an excellent source and advisor for coin collecting and investing.

Based in New York, he has been a rare coin expert for over 25 years and has built a business in this niche market that has produced sales as high as $7 million dollars in a year.  In this field of rare coins, hidden values and investments Ken is a rarity. He is one of the few successful African American coin dealers in this $3-5-billion industry.

Smaltz career began quite by accident during a summer as a shipping clerk at MTB Banking Corp.  His interest piqued, 18 months later he was promoted to salesman. He moved to Atlanta, GA as vice president of marketing at Hancock and Harwell here he was responsible for new business development, advertising, marketing and public relations.  He continued his rise to senior sales executive at a Minneapolis based rare coin company.  Each position gave Ken more top sales awards, increased financial success, and important recognition in his industry.

In addition to his passion for rare coins, Ken also provides appraisals and organizes the liquidation of precious items such as fine art, jewels, watches, and antiquities.  He consults with private clients and speaks to groups about both the value of rare coin investments and how to manage estate valuables.

Ken is an entrepreneur and philanthropist who builds where he sees a need. In 2012 he began the Kenneth A Smaltz Sr. Foundation(KASSRF) in honor of his father who suffers from dementia. The foundation’s major objective is to support local care centers and provide gift funding for families who cannot afford these centers. He has been honored by both the Parker Jewish Institute  and The Long Island Alzheimer’s Foundation for his advocacy.

Inspired by his mother who was a teacher, Ken is the benefactor of the Le Park Place Preschool and Children’s Enrichment Center, It was his mother’s priority and now his goal to make a safe and healthy place for early childhood development.

In the midst of his rare coin business Ken enjoys keeping his private clients informed and speaking to businessmen and students groups about rare coin investment, sustaining business and the How To’s of being an entrepreneur.
